Noted Physician and HIV AIDS Specialist & Social Activist Dr Diwakar Tejaswi attended special discussion on HIV AIDS Control and newer strategies developed recently by CDC for the prevention of HIV spread yesterday at Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) headquarter, Atlanta, USA. Dr Tejaswi was invited by AIDS experts at CDC to share his views for the effective control and prevention of HIV AIDS in the developing world.

Have you ever thought over why Bihar with Rs 6,610 per capita income continues to occupy the lowest position in the country whereas the national per capita income is  Rs 38,084?
Do you have any reasons to explain for the sorry state of affairs? What are the things in state which you could be proud of ? Will you continue to harp on what Bihar had in the past, refusing to acknowledge the reality of todays€™s life style there? Don't you think we need to wake up to the necessity of exploring the possibilities of making Bihar on a par with other developed states within the country, if not the world?

After almost four decades, Bihar has woken up to English education in the state, making English a compulsory subject in Board Examinations from the commencement of the academic session 2010. “Bihar can no longer afford to lag behind as far as English education is concernedâ€, says Raghubansh Kumar, Bihar School Examination Board academic director.

Advance Ambulance Services Starts In Patna
Chief minister Nitish Kumar has inaugurated the Advanced Life Support and Basic Life Support ambulance services in Patna on wednesday. An enterprise of public-private parternership this service was long desired. After the new govt. took action improving the health services across the state there was a strong feeling about the need of improved ambulance services.
The 10 ultra modern ambulance with ample of costlier life support system has been pressed into the service as a pilot project. The ambulance are fitted with GSM technology also to trace the location of the van. A technician and a helper will be with each ambulance to assist the patient. At present the 10 ambulance has been deployed at 10 different location of Patna. People of rural Patna who lives at the outskirts of the state capital can also call at 108 to get the service.

Bihar Appeals Banks For Easy Loans
Dy. Chief Minister Sushil Kr. Modi has requested the central govt to release orders for a lesser interest rate for "education loan" by the banks. Mr. Modi has directed the banks to make the loan sanction process easy. In a meeting with the representatives of different banks working in Bihar, Mr. Modi expressed his dissatisfaction over the banks performance in context of giving loans to students. "You are making good profits from this poor state despite the global slowdown and cut-backs, you to corroborate this. Thus, dont' our students deserves a better service from you. I expect you to ensure more waiver on education loan and processes be smoother", Mr. Modi said.
State govt. also given direction to the General Managers to establish a nodal center so students do not have to go through difficulties getting loan. As per bank's credit account a sum of Rs. 577.56 crore has been sanctioned among 23348 students in the financial year 2008-2009. This figure sprangs up from Rs. 280.93 crores an year before (2007-2008) after the intervention from Nitish govt. The situation is improving still a rapid pace is required and more efforts need to be done on bank's part. According to experts at present the banks are charging a hefty 10-14% interest on education loan which is more than enough to destract the students.
