Death Penalty In Papiya Ghosh Murder Case

The court has awarded life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs. 5000 each to other accused in the same case - Manohar Kumar, Ashish Kumar and Anil Oraon. They have been convicted on Thursday by the same court.The fifth accused Ramchandra Mahto, lawyer by profession has been awarded a rigorous two years imprisonment. Ramchandra Mahto was found guily of hiding stolen goods and helping the criminals.Papiya Ghosh was murderd along with her maid Malti Devi on December 3, 2006 during a robbery attempt at her house. Both were stabbed brutally with sharp weapons leading to on the spot death. The police had solved the casein two weeks although it took almost two years to bring in the justice by the fast track court.The police cracked the case within two weeks of the crime though it took nearly two years for a fast track court to bring the guilty to justice.
