Unbridled Koshi Ready To Sink More Districts

The Kursela, Barari, Sameli and Amdabad blocks in Katihar district may happen to be first target if Koshi touches these areas. Adminstration has ordered the officials to be on high alert and keep themselves available through mobile phone 24 hours. "In readiness to meet any eventuality, we are preparing hard",said Katihar DM D Verma. In Supaul and Araria districts, the Army has been called in for evacuation of people. Jawans of Sashastra Seema Bal are also engaged in the relief and rescue work.According to bulletin coming from Bihar's disaster management office a total of 9,000 persons has bee evacuated from supaul and bordering areas of Araria. Also, with the breach widening towards the Bheemnagar barrage, the pressure at the barrage has dwindled and the water is flowing through the breached embankment on its newly-charted course, irrigation officials said. If there be more rainfall in upper catchement of Nepal, it will release more water and the situation would further aggravate then. There are some news(may be rumour) that a there is a fresh breach in the Raja bandh in Nepal, which created panic among people in Araria and Purnia.
