Recognising the existing and future potential ECR has enlisted Patna Junction among "22 station to be modernised as world class by 2020". According to govt. sources railways is one of the biggest organisation of the country and running in cushionable profit. Patna has been shortlisted just not because being the land of railway minister. This capital city is on the busiest route of traffic i.e. New Delhi- Howrah-Guwahati that gives it revenue both in terms of goods & passengers. Railway can boast of about 5000 km. of track here. With more than 30 million people visits patna junction every year, gives it revenue to the tune of thousand of lakhs of rupees. Despite of this, patna junction has never been given the level of attention it deserves to be. "It just seems like any other station you may find anywhere. There is nothing special in it.",says a executive working in a private bank in patna who often visits patna junction. With having just 9 platform to cater to needs of the passengers and goods train as well, there is much room for improvement. According to railway sources there is also such feelings in the railway ministry and officials in the Rail Bhawan, new delhi. They are pin-pointing to a mammoth project that will completely change the face of patna junction and give it a world class touch. It is a matter of comfort and recognition as well. Patna is changing, lifestyle is changing hence it is required to change the "gateway" too. If implemented, the project seems promising and great. A multimodel transpor interchange, shopping retail malls, residential & office accomodation is just the few of things in the list. we are going to incorporates best of things happening across the world in improving rail road transit system.
