Updated on 06 September, 2007
In an initiative taken by the Finance Mininster P.Chidambaram to unearth the real things at ground level, and not just relying on media reports, right before granting any financial assistance from the center the team witnessed the ground reality and reacted the situation as "completely devastated". It is pathetic, people are enduring the untold miseries, the common reaction from officers. while the ebb of the tide going out leaving the standing crops severely damaged spreads across hectares upon hectares of land in the district. "there is nothing left, everything gets submerged". There seems nothing been done to limit the damage."not an inch of green could be seen in hectares of land". One can easily imagine the magnitude of havoc right after this statement from the central team. But this delimitative action of gauging the devastation caused by flood is not enough as thousands of family have nothing to eat and no place to live in, they reacts. People need immediate relief. Cheria Bariyarpur, Baluaha, Koriyama and Rajour are among the worst hit affected areas of devastation. District Magistrate of Darbhanga Mr. Sanjeev Hans assisting the central team assures the "we won't left any stone unturned and more relief is coming your way soon". The central team also visited some of the overcrowded relief camps and listen to the victims carefully and patiently.
