High Court Adjourns Laloo's Disproportionate Assets Case
Updated on 21 November, 2007
On Tuesday, govt counsel A P Singh requested the single bench court to fix December 14 as the next hearing date so that the senior Supreme Court advocate Surendra Singh could appear before the Court on behalf of the state. After the govt counsel's request Justice Ramesh Kumar Datta adjourned the hearing till Wednesday. It is important to remember that the Supreme Court in its judgment on September 12 had deferred the appeal of Laloo-Rabri and CBI challenging the Patna High Court decision to admit Bihar govt's appeal against Laloo-Rabri acquittal in disproportionate assets case.Laloo-Rabri Counsel as well as CBI counsel Sumant Singh and Vipin Kumar Sinha respectively on October 31 had requested Patna High Court to fix first week of December to enable Supreme Court lawyers to appear before the court on behalf of their client. Listening to the requests, the judge asked the three counsels to agree on a mutually convenient date and tell the court tomorrow.
