Chhath Puja Starts With Nahai-Khai

The Chhath festival is observed the sixth day of Diwali and starts with Nahai-Khai which marks the purity in both physical as well as spiritual sense and the devotees must have to follow the strict guidelines for next three days.Nahai-Khai starts with having rice, chana daal and lauki. On the eve of Nahai-Khai lauki was sold on high price ranging from 15 to 20 Rs a kilo. Chhath is celebrated by paying obeisance to the Sun God.The ritual of Nahai-Khai will be followed by Kharna, followed by the main offerings, arghya, to the Sun God on Friday evening. Chhath will be completed on Saturday morning with offering "arghya" to the Sun God.At several places devotees have installed idol of Sun God riding chariot with seven white horses.
