Laloo's Exhilirating Supporters Busted Train Engine
Updated on 13 October, 2007
Laloo was to visit Marahoura to inaugurate the operation at Diesel Rail engine factory at Marahoura. Two crew members got severe burn injuries in the accident were later admitted to Chhapra railway hospital. They are reported to safe now.According to official sources as the engine of the train was so old and got overloaded by the visiting crowd leading to failure of the engine. As the train left the Chhapra Court Station the boiler pipe of the "steam engine" got busted.Though steam engine is not in use for a long time in trains in India as it has low capacity and warrants high maintenance and running cost. To say in brief the technology of steam engine is obsolete now.It is well known that all heritage trains running in India have been given steam engine (which is obsolete now) after good maintenance work in order to maintain the aesthetic sense of the travelers and tourists.EC-railways' General Manager cum Chief Public Relation Officer A.K.Chandra blamed the overcrowding mob for the failure of engine. He said "heritage train had steam engine which is too old and meant to a limited size of load. If u exceed its load capacity technically it will get some trouble in the engine's "leadplug" better to say 'safety valve' in laymen's term. And this is what exactly happened on Saturday".
