1500 Mw Of Electricity From Navinagar Plant

He was addressing the media persons in a press meet organized at 1.Anne Marg, CM official residence. The press was called in after signing MoU between NTPC, State Electricity Board and the State government. He reminded the NaviNagar Plant will give a minimum of 1500 MW of electricity, he said.The MoU signed on Sunday between the three parties also involves the role of NTPC in the refurnishing ofthe dilapidated Kanti Thermal Power plant at Kanti.While the state government and NTPC will have equal participation of 50% each on the project. State Electricity Board will also be part of the project and the govt. will backed it up. There are three plants each with a capacity of 660 MW is being build in the NaviNagar. 75% of the total production will be given to Bihar. While 15% of electricity will be sold to other states the rest 10% will be given to central sector.Nitish Kumar seemed depressed over the dismal performance of the Kanti Thermal. While one unit of Kanti thermal will become functional by this November the whole plant will become producing by the end to 2010 only.NTPC chief cum Managing Director T. ShankerLingam assured that NTPC is working with state of the art technologies in the development of the NaviNagar plant and said that the plant will be modern one. Electricity minister Vijeyendra Mahto and BSEB chairperson Swapan Mukherjee were also present on the occasion.
