Patna College

It was started with Intermediate level education initially and later on degree level education started in Patna College in 1865. Patna College is the oldest college in Patna.It was affiliated to Calcutta University.Patna College is considered as the other of several educational institutions in Patna like Patna Science College, Patna Training College, Bihar College of Engineering, Patna Law College, Patna Medical College, Vanijya Mahavidyalaya and others.Patna College had been a prominent source of education among students not only from Bihar but also from states of neighbouring Orissa and Bengal.After independence in 1952 Patna College become a constituent college of Patna University.Patna College has been a excellent source of education, culture, discipline, tradition and has produced a number of famous educationists, intellectuals, politicians, people’s leaders, renowned advocates, legal luminaries, journalists, Doctor’s, Govt. servants and administrators.Some prominent personalities who studied at Patna College include Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Jai Prakash Narayan, Dr. Sri Krishna Singh, Dr. Anugrah Narayan Singh, Sri Yashwant Sinha, and many more.To its glory Patna College has been hailed as the Oxford of Bihar with no Cambridge to compete with.
