New Dress Code For Officials From Monday

Updated on 26 August, 2007
As per the dress code ACT 1954, the male govt employee should wear white shirt and balck trouser with optional closed neck coat or jacket. On the other hand the women are supposed to wear sari with long-sleeved blouse or salwar-kurta with dupatta. The dress code would go in effect from Monday. The drees code came into picture after Patna High Court had directed state chief secretary to ensure implementation of the dress code from government circular of 1954 for govt officials while appearing in court. Earlier The Patna High court had directed two state government officers to pay Rs 5,000 each as penalty for appearing in the court in abominable dress. The two officials from Munger had appeared in T-shirt and a check shirt in a contempt case. However some beleives this as useless while others beleive this would result in a positive psychological attitude and would result in higher productivity.
