In a survey organised by ZEE NEWs group followed by other media channels 98% people do believe that govt. efforts are too small keeping the size of devastation. The disaster management during flood time should be at par with what was done at the time of earthquakes at Latur and Bhuj in Gujarat and the tsunami-hit coastal areas. The flood toll rises to 100 though officially it is 62 by now. The lack of drinking water and sanitation are even in relief camps. A total of about 30 lakh people are affected by the flood and evacuating all of them seems impossible if the relief work continues at this sluggish speed. Opposition parties are correct while saying that state water resouces department are misinforming people about the causes of flood. While the Koshi bund has been breached in Dalwa (Nepal) in 1963, Jamalpur (Darbhanga) in 1968, Bhatania (Supaul) in 1971, Bahuarwa (Saharsa) in 1980, Hempur (Saharsa) in 1984 and Joginia (Nepal) in 1991, department are hiding these facts. Opposition claims that had the government been alerted by time the havoc could be controlled.
