Gaya, 91 kilometers located south from state capital Patna is know as Lnd of Budha. Gaya lies on bank of river Falgu.

Gaya is well connected by Air, Railways and by Road with all parts of India.

Gaya is of great importance for both Hindu as well as for Budhists.

The importance of Gaya is described in ancient epics. During the period while Lord Ram was spending his Vanwas, he was moving through Gaya. He got the news of demise of his father Raaja Dashrath. Lord Ram got shocked and along with his brother Laxman tried to make arrangement for the Shradh of his father Raaja Dashrath.

In the meantime, the time ( Muhurat ) was passing by and Lord Ram's wife Mother Sita conducted the Shradh ceremony. 

If you are going to Gaya, Bodhgaya, 13 kilometers from Gaya is a must see place. Bodhgaya is the place where Lord Budha got the enlightenment and the holi knowledge of Madhyam Marg.

Vishnu Pad : Vishnu pad is a famous temple for Hindus where ou can see the footprints ( Charan ) of Lord Vishnu.

While he was in Tapasya at Bakraur, he was offered Kheer by Sujhata, a dancer from Bakraur and said "If you tighten enough the chords of Sitar, the chord will get broken. On the other hand if you looses enough the chords, the Sitar will not play". This is what the Madhyam marg says and Lord Budha got the spiritual knowledge of Madhyam Marg.

Several Budhist monestaries from different countries are there in Bodhgaya each depicting a different look with different culture.
