On Wednesday, the special TADA court in Gaya awarded death penalty to three accused in Bara massacre 16 years ago. On February 12, 1992, 37 male adults belonging to same caste were brutally killed in Bara.

Passing the judgment TADA court judge Darogha Prasad awarded death penalty to Byas Kahar, Naresh Paswan and Bugal Mochi. Three others were acquitted due to lack of evidence. In the evening of February 12, 1992 a large group of Maoist activists entered Bara village and dragged the male members of a particular caste to the outskirts of the village. The throats of all of them were slit one by one.The Bara massacre has been a black spot for the mankind. However the death penalty awardees can appeal against the judgment in the supreme court as a judgment of TADA court can be appealed only in the supreme court of India.
