August 17, 2012

According to the latest energy survey conducted by Central Electricity Authority (CEA), Bihar's energy demand would touch around 3,777MW power by 2014. Supply of Electricity in Bihar is organized under 7 Area Boards covering which will have such big requirement of about 4000 MW by the end of 2014.

From the dais of Historical Gandhi Maindan, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar delivered a power hunch on August 15th, the historical moment of 66th Independence Day, that there will be no dearth of Electricity by 2015 and if he fails to do so he(Nitish) will not go to voters for assembly elections due in 2015.

Nitish Kumar Pledges to the People of Bihar that not a single village of Bihar will be powerless by 2015. As presumed, soon after the CM's address at Gandhi Maidan, political and media circles witnessed unrest. Everyone is calculating the relevance of such pledge by Nitish. Opposition parties are interpreting the CM's statement as a joke to the people of Bihar. "This is impossible. If he(Nitish) had idea of such thing why he waited for 7 years while Bihar is struggling for power", says a congress leader

It is well known that except the capital city there is no power at all. Even towns like Gaya, Muzzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Madhubani,Bhagalpur has not seen power for more than 1-2 hours in a single day for years. Nitish Kumar has not left a single opportunity to blame the centre for a power-hungry Bihar. His all efforts to bring electricity and industry in Bihar has not onset on ground.

But we can't challenge the intellect of Nitish who barely makes such toll claims. We can't forget the makeover of law & order, roads, flyovers, large road bridges that onset during the last 7 years. His political will and vision is promising though he fails at some stages due to malfunctioning of machinaries and bureaucracy. Our correspondent visited various department on thursday to find out the basis of CM's claim. Not to surprise but some facts are facts.
