Free Legal Service For Underpriviledged

The judiciary in Bihar is running in parallel to the Nitish Govt's effort to provide better justice, service and quality of life for the people of Bihar. On a brief but remarkable occassion held in the Civil Court premised on Ashok Rajpath by the bank of Ganges the Chief Justice of Patna High Court Hon'ble Rekha Doshit inaugurated the Patna desk of District Legal Service Authority. The "front office" in parlance to corporate terminology this is a forum which provides free access to judicial help, advice and justice for poor and underpriviledged who are unable to approach the court on their own, says Hon'ble Justice of Patna High Court ShivKirti singh. He make the audience understand in a nutshell what is the soul, purpose and mission of providing this free district legal service authority. He stressed the need to better training of para legal volunteers. A core committee comprising 12 members including retd. judges,Doctors,Professors and civil servants will guide and advice the team to improve the service and will help the desk relevant with passage of time. Section 12 of the constitution have provision for poor to approach the judiciary and can demand justice free of cost. This is an extention of that provision.Para-legal volunteer shall be the most significant factor of the entire system. They will also make people aware of the rule of law and try to provide solution out of court. In absence of correct knowledge of law too many people hassle and loses their time, money and energy. Principal judge of family court shared the dais with the highest rank of state judiciary. A large number of Court officers were present in the audience. Amid high security arrangements and as the civil court were running the program were only for about an hour making it distinguish from the marathon political meets which usually do happen in the state capital.
